Lake Massabesic Trail

Lake Massabesic Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Located minutes from Manchester, northern New England’s largest city, the Massabesic Audubon Sanctuary boasts 130 acres of fields and forests owned and managed by New Hampshire Audubon. From the parcel’s nature center a 1.5-mile interpretive trail loops around the property through many diverse habitats.

The loop provides access to additional trails that lead to the end of scenic Battery Point. The combination of trails is ideal for a half-day adventure of leisurely hiking and wildlife observation. The shoreline and end of Battery Point is owned and managed by the Manchester Water Works, and there is a seamless transition from Audubon to Water Works land. Both organizations have a cooperative management agreement on the whole of Battery Point that includes a no-hunting policy."

This is a nice place if you're looking for an easygoing hike with some pretty views. Good for biking and dog walking too. The lake is a nice sight any time of year and it's another place that's gorgeous during the fall. I make it a point to go here anytime I visit friends in Manchester.

If you like sailing, you have come to the right place. This is a nice place to relax, exercise, and bring your family. You will find the trails a great place to escape to from a busy week of work. It is a great place to heal.

This lake is a drinking water body of water, so there are signs posted everywhere, stating that you cannot swim, have pets swim, etc....thus if you are walking here with dogs (which is allowed), its tough to keep them out of the water (they can't read or choose not to read the signs). The trails are wide and nice. And the lake is a sight to behold. There are many different places to park and a variety of trailheads to choose from. A lovely spot close to downtown Manchester.

This is an excellent way to spend an afternoon. There are actually 2 trails. The first is if you park in the Massabesic Lake Parking lot and follow the trail which winds around the left side of the lake. The other is if you cross the street to the ball field side and walk south down 28 about 1/8 of a mile you will see another trail which goes off into the woods. This is the less travelled trail which winds in and out of wooded areas and along side the lake. I find this trail to be the more interesting of the two. Let me know what YOU think.

A nice trail to take a family trip. Just watch out for a lot of rocks and things I used to trip a lot when I was younger :)
