Lower Nanamocomuck Ski Trail

Lower Nanamocomuck Ski Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The Lower Nanamocomuck Ski Trail parallels the boulder-strewn Swift River, affording skiers and snowshoers miles of opportunities for adventure. This is a gem of a trail because there are an incredible number of vistas and trail options. The Swift River itself is stunning.

The trail runs along its length for a good portion of the route, cuts back into the forest, then comes back to water’s edge. At Rocky Gorge skiers and shoers can choose to visit the quiet, frozen shores of Falls Pond and gaze up among the spruce and pine to see Bear Mountain, or they can cross a bridge to see the roiling waters of the gorge against walls of granite. (Remove your skis before entering the Rocky Gorge area because there are steps and the bridge crossing for those who go to view the rushing waters.) There is one more option here. The Lovequist Loop, a 0.7-mile trail around Falls Pond, is an ideal spot for snowshoeing in either direction because it swings between forest and shore. Surface quality: Ungroomed, skier tracked."
