Waterrock Knob

Waterrock Knob Professional Review and Guide

"Half of this route uses the last 26 miles of the famous Blue Ridge Parkway, where you'll climb to the top of Waterrock Knob at an elevation of 5800 feet- the highest elevation reached in this book. The other half is as diverse as it gets. You'll travel through quiet valley farmland, along a wide-shouldered four-lane highway, up a short section of dirt road and through the heavily congested tourist town of Cherokee.

It's a real mixed bag and its a great ride. The views from the Parkway are simple stunning. There's a long downhill through six tunnels that's a blast, and beating the traffic through Cherokee is a true challenge. Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy this one. Points of interest: Balsam Mountain Inn; overlooks; views and tunnels on the Blue Ridge Parkway; Cherokee gift shops and the Museum of the Cherokee Indian."
