Great Smoky Mountains National Park-Big Creek Campground

Great Smoky Mountains National Park-Big Creek Campground Professional Review and Guide

"Just minutes from the Tennessee state line, this small, well-designed campground is one of the best I’ve seen for tent camping. And it was made for just that—tents only. There is a designated parking area in the middle of the loop near the bathhouse, and each site requires a short walk with your gear to set up camp.

Be sure to hike the Big Creek Trail on your visit. The trailhead is just outside the campground. The trail itself follows Big Creek for miles, leading you to two wonderful waterfalls along the way. This trail is popular among equestrians as well, so as you enjoy the lively flow and brilliant colors of the creek, be sure to watch where you step.

This guide also includes information on Big Creek Horse Camp - located About 0.5 mile before reaching the Big Creek Campground."
