Falls Lake State Recreation Area Shinleaf Campground

Falls Lake State Recreation Area: Shinleaf Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Shinleaf provides the only backpack camping in the Falls Lake Recreation Area. Depending on which campsite you choose, you can hike as little as a few hundred feet or as far as nearly 0.5 mile to get to your site. You must pack in all your supplies, including water.

There is a wash sink at the trailhead, and there are water spigots at the main bathhouse, but there are no water spigots within the camping area. A wide gravel “road” leads to the campsites, so you could bring a wheelbarrow to cart your belongings if you were so inclined. But that kind of defeats the purpose of backpack camping"
