Linville Falls Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The Blue Ridge Parkway is an unusual national park. It is linear, stretching 469 miles on the spine of the Southern Appalachians, connecting the Great Smoky Mountains and Shenandoah national parks. When deciding to designate the first national park in our southern mountains, government officials just couldn’t decide between Shenandoah and the Smokies, so both were developed.
As a result of this compromise, the scenic road connecting them was built. In the process, officials brought many historic sites and attractive natural features under the parkservice umbrella. One of these outstanding areas is Linville Falls, the crown jewel of Linville Gorge, which many consider the most scenic wilderness in the Tar Heel State."
