Slickrock Creek originates in the Unicoi Mountains of southwestern North Carolina and southeastern Tennessee. It forms part of the state line between North Carolina and Tennessee for its entire length. There are 4.8 miles of runnable creek above its inundation/ confluence with the Little Tennessee River. Slickrock meets the Little Tennessee 2 miles below the Cheoah Dam, whereupon one must paddle upstream (uplake) to the takeout. The creek flows between Nantahala National Forest (NC) and Cherokee National Forest (TN), where it enjoys a pristine environment and excellent water quality.
