Joyce Kilmer Wilderness Area — Jenkins Meadow Trail

Joyce Kilmer Wilderness Area — Jenkins Meadow Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Jenkins Meadow epitomizes the wilderness experience. You might not get that impression out of the gate, though. The trail starts with a quick climb, aided by steps and a rustic handrail. Take a good look because that’s the last you’ll see of such niceties.

From here, the trail ascends quickly on a narrow path that’s frequently off-camber. It’s a long drop on your right, though the mountain laurel will break your fall before much damage is done."

A short hike, but very rough because of the continuously climb from the start. Jenkins Meadow is no longer a meadow because the tree canopy has all but closed off the ground below. The hike was a great work out either way.
