Shelley Lake Loop

Shelley Lake Loop Professional Review and Guide

"This city of Raleigh greenway adventure explores still and moving water. First, trace Bent Creek downstream to meet Mine Creek, then follow Mine Creek to pretty Shelley Lake. Loop around the impoundment, using boardwalk part of the time and gaining views from a high dam. Spur trails present additional hiking opportunities.

The city of Raleigh has stepped up and developed their greenways. The network of pathways is known as the Capital Area Greenway System. The mostly interconnected set of trails follows drainages flowing through Raleigh and Wake County. The still-growing system currently totals 120 miles. No matter the time of year, the streams and the woods that surround them present a slice of nature amid the capital city."
