Raven Rock State Park: Campbell Creek Loop Trail Professional Review and Guide
"Th is route follows the Campbell Creek Loop Trail and the Lanier Falls Trail to explore a large portion of the park’s southwest section. Th e trail begins at the parking lot at the end of Raven Rock Road. You cross over Campbell Creek and then follow alongside the creek. Once you reach Cape Fear River, you have excellent views of the high bluff s that line the riverbank. A spur trail leads to Lanier Falls, a small fall near the bank of the Cape Fear River. Here a small rocky peninsula can be accessed on the other side of the falls. Th is bit of land that juts into the wide river is a popular fi shing spot and a great place for a picnic, swimming, and sunning. Past the falls you reach another spur trail that leads to backcountry campsites, so you can turn your day hike into an overnight camping trip. Th is is a great route if you’re looking for an introduction to backpacking or an overnight fi shing or camping trip. Th e path explores a pine-and-oak forest before returning to the parking lot and visitor center."
