    Pilot Mountain State Park

Pilot Mountain State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Pilot Mountain State Park is quite diverse. The park is split into two separate sections—the mountains and the river—each with its own unique qualities. The mountain section, which houses the family campground, is home to Pilot Mountain itself. This 1,400-foot pinnacle stands high above the surrounding countryside. Rock climbers have a heyday in this section of the park along several routes, but a permit must be obtained prior to climbing.

This portion of the park is also popular with cyclists. The road leading to the top of Pilot Mountain climbs at grades from 10 to 16 percent. That’s quite a challenge on two wheels—both uphill and screaming downhill. There are hiking and bridle trails as well.

This guide also includes information on Pilot Mountain: Yadkin River Group Camp."
