Jomeokee is the name used by the Saura Indians, who visited the aerie as a natural tower from which they could watch their neighbors. Jomeokee also served as a landmark along a well-worn trace that ran from Virginia to Georgia. Walk the 0.8-mile Jomeokee Trail, and you’ll discover why. Although it rims the base of the pinnacle, it still offers unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside: north to Virginia, east to the rolling Piedmont, south to Winston-Salem, and west to the Blue Ridge Escarpment. And while there’s some up and down on the Jomeokee Trail, it’s basically flat and a welcome relief from Ledge Springs’ wild ride.
