Trent River

Trent River Professional Review and Guide

"The Trent River headwaters begin 15 miles southwest of Kinston. Starting as a narrow blackwater stream, it takes a winding course making its way to the east. It goes through forest and farmland before flowing through the first town at Trenton.

Below Trenton, development is more frequent, and the river widens so that downed trees are seldom an obstacle. After going through Pollocksville, the Trent joins the Neuse River at New Bern. This eTrail contains 6 sections of the Trent River from Chinaquapin Chapel Road (jones Co. 1129) bridge to Lawson Creek Park access off US 70 at New Bern."

We put in at the bridge on county rd 1121 in Pollocksville. This was my first time on the Trent but the water seems to be very high. Lot’s of nice spots to slip through the forest with out hitting the bottom. We went up river from the bridge to the country club and turned around the river is wide and has a good flow once you get past the house’s witch run on the left side for about a 1/4 mile its very nice the river had a few dead falls but all of them passable we saw 1 hawk and 3 ducks over all a nice place for a quite afternoon paddle, Next time I visit the Trent river I think I will try putting in more towards the head waters and seeing what I can find.
