Ravenrock Ridge Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The cliffs at Ravenrock Ridge offer outstanding views of the Southern Nantahalas. Following the crest of the Blue Ridge, this hike offers views to the west of Shooting Creek Valley and Lake Chatuge on the North Carolina–Georgia state line. You will also pass through parts of the Southern Nantahala Wilderness on this hike.
From the parking area at Deep Gap, follow the A.T. south by heading right, into the woods, and climbing Yellow Mountain. In 0.7 mile, the Trail switchbacks up to a rock outcrop and continues on to the highest point of this section at 1.1 miles (elevation 4,840'), providing a view to the north. Hike 1.0 mile to Wateroak Gap (elevation 4,460') in a small clearing. The A.T. continues up the ridge for another 0.9 mile to the junction with the blue-blazed Chunky Gal Trail, which heads 5.5 miles west to US 64. Head left on the A.T. for 0.2 mile to the edge of a large, grassy area at Whiteoak Stamp."
