Lake Norman State Park

Lake Norman State Park Professional Review and Guide

"The campground at Lake Norman State Park is a popular weekend getaway spot for many locals. It sits at the northern end of Lake Norman and is conveniently located less than an hour from both Charlotte and Statesville. The park has a great mountain bike trail system and miles of hiking trails that skirt the edge of the lake. The campsites are very wooded and very private—so much so that you can barely see the lake even though it’s just a stone’s throw away.

Since the park is practically surrounded by water, it has a swim beach, fishing piers, a boat ramp, and boat rentals to help you make the most of your visit. The group camping area is hike-in only, and reservations are required."
