The Reddies flows out of the Blue Ridge Mountains between Judd Mountain and Burke Mountain to North Wilkesboro, where it joins the Yadkin River. Mostly it flows through forested land interspersed with farmland. The first 2 miles, with a 20 foot-per-mile gradient, is where it’s at—the whitewater, that is—but the entire section, except for the last mile, will give the paddler a pleasant float trip.
