Doughton Campground Professional Review and Guide
"The National Park Service does a really good job with this Blue Ridge Parkway campground, which is located on the crest of the Blue Ridge and has a mountaintop ambience. A smart design spreads out over 100-plus sites and makes the area seem like several small campgrounds. Dividing the tent and RV sites into separate sections makes it even better."
--Johnny Molloy, The Best In Tent Camping: The Carolinas (Menasha Ridge Press).
Doughton Park Campground is one of the many campgrounds on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but is lightly used compared to places like Julian Price Park or Linville Falls. If quiet rest and relaxation are important, you will like this place. There are hiking trails, and a restaurant close by. Its a good place to explore the northern parts of the parkway from and even into Virgina while returning for a good nights sleep.
