This route contours the straight and level McAlpine Greenway along the banks of the waterway. After passing under a railroad trestle and Monroe Road, the greenway will come within sight of the Sardis Road overpass. Before reaching this intersection, the path crosses McAlpine Creek and then winds through the forest on the northern bank. In the spring this path is lined with wildflowers, including the rare native larkspur. After hiking a little over a mile, the trail returns to the south shore of McAlpine Creek and traces the greenway back to the trailhead parking lot.
