Each fall hundreds of high school cross-country runners journey to McAlpine Creek Greenway to participate in the state championship. For the other 364 days a year, the course is open for pedestrians to enjoy at whatever pace they desire. The scenic loop follows the banks of McAlpine Creek before veering into a nearby patch of woods. When the route comes out of the forest, it explores the shoreline of two ponds that are home to ducks, herons, and Canada geese.
