Upper Wilson Professional Review and Guide
"The 6.5 miles of Upper Wilson loop are made up of a two-mile section of singletrack, two and a half miles of gated fire road, and two miles of open gravel. The most noteworthy feature of the entire ride comes right after you clear the trailhead. The singletrack starts its descent off Wilson Ridge over a series of waterbars, spaced every 30 to 40 yards, it seems. These waterbars have been carefully designed to give the acrobatic biker plenty of chances at big air. After five to ten waterbars, the first significant descent is complete. This route uses the upper section of what the Forest Service calls Wilson Ridge Trail, an out-and-back 14.7 miles long one way (29.4 total). Lower Wilson offers a more rugged and challenging experience, with numerous carries and hikes."
