Alligator River

Alligator River Professional Review and Guide

"The Alligator River is the approximate limit of the northern range of American alligators. It begins in swampy land north of Lake Mattamuskeet and is joined by New Lake Fork as it flows generally north. The river crosses the Intracoastal Waterway several times between the waterway’s connection of the Pungo and Alligator Rivers.

The Alligator River and its tributaries are designated as Outstanding Resource Waters. This eTrail contains 2 sections of the Alligator River from Northwest Fork at NC 94 access to NC 94 roadside near Intracoastal Waterway."
