This hike combines the Bicentennial Greenway with the Deep River Trail, which travels along the shores of High Point Lake. The loop is located within the boundaries of the Piedmont Environmental Center and offers a fairly large wooded tract that preserves a wild slice of the Triad. Expect a decent workout while coursing through the lakeside hills. Piedmont Environmental Center provides not only an environmental study building but also preserved parcels in greater High Point. The tract through which this loop travels is known as the North Preserve. The Bicentennial Greenway makes its way through the North Preserve, following the old western leg of the Deep River Trail. Upon becoming the Bicentennial Greenway, the western leg was widened and paved over. The eastern leg of the Deep River Trail remains in its primitive singletrack state, leaving hikers with a mix of developed and primitive pathways.
