Spring Creek cuts a deep, scenic gorge between Long and Deer Park Mountains on the west and Spring Creek Mountain on the east. Its drainage lies within Pisgah National Forest. The put-in is just downstream of the confluence of the Meadow Fork of Spring Creek and Spring Creek. Rarely would there be adequate water to run above the confluence, because the creek itself is only runnable after fairly extensive rainfall.
