French Broad River Route Professional Review and Guide
"This out-and-back follows the French Broad River. The surface of Paint Rock Road- pavement for the first mile and a half, gravel the rest of the way- lies on top of an ancient trading route used by Native Americans. Halfway through the ride, on the right, Murray Branch crosses under the road and joins the wide river, its banks shaded by beech and maple trees. The turnaround on the ride comes at Paint Rock, where the borders of three counties, and two states touch. Judging by the graffiti left behind on the sides of the famous rock wall, I'd say a great many cultures have come together here as well. The city of Hot Springs has naturally occurring heated springs, ideal for a spell in the spa after riding one of the area's three mountain bike trails."

Great ride. Virtually flat so you can stretch out and ride. Remember that cars and trucks use the gravel road, so stay on the right!
A friend and I began this ride at paint rock. Awesome views and cool mountain air made for an easy as well as "worth the drve " ride.
Trail is nice. Traffic is not a problem. Paved part is smooth, gravel part is very rough. View of river is fabulous. There is public parking right before the railroad tracks and bridge to the left.
