Blue Valley Professional Review and Guide
"This 14-mile out-and-back trail (7 miles one way) is located about 5 miles south of Highlands. As you descend the hard-packed gravel surface to the turn-around at Abes Creek, you will pass several wildlife openings, newly logged areas, and views of Blue Valley. The trail is fairly tough physically as you climb back from Abes Creek to the trailhead. The only technical challenge is loose gravel in places.
If you ride mostly flat trails, this is a great introduction to riding mountainous terrain. There are many roadside campsites and picnic areas along the trail, and it's located only 5 miles from beautiful Highlands, NC. Scenery includes lush rhododendron, hardwood forest, waterfalls, and granite domes give this ride its charm."
