"Riverbend Park is a 400-acre park owned and operated by Catawba County. It includes a mile of shoreline on the Catawba River just below Lake Hickory. Habitats: Pine forest, mixed hardwood-pine, upland oak-hickory, small wetlands, Catawba River floodplain, Lake Hickory shoreline.

Key birds: Summer: Broad-winged Hawk; Eastern Kingbird; Cliff Swallow; Scarlet Tanager; Indigo Bunting. Winter: Hooded Merganser; Greater Scaup; Pine Siskin. Year-round: Bald Eagle; Ruffed Grouse; Brownheaded Nuthatch; Loggerhead Shrike."
