Mecklenburg County — Reedy Creek Park and McDowell Nature Preserves Trail

Mecklenburg County — Reedy Creek Park and McDowell Nature Preserves Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Reedy Creek Park and Nature Preserve offers 10 miles of trail within some 727 acres of rolling Piedmont. Trails ranging from a quarter-mile to a mile show you around. A recommended loop starts on the Umbrella Tree Trail from the rear of the Nature Center. In 0.4 mile, the trail intersects with the South Fork Trail; go left.

Head through a mixed hardwood forest down to a lush bottomland forest. Shortly after crossing a creek, go right onto the Sierra Loop Trail where you’ll encounter the remains of the Robinson House, one of the oldest homesites in the county. Loop back to the South Fork Trail, then go right to return the way you came for a 1.5-mile round-trip."

It's a good trail to hike with dogs. Not as challenging as we like it but very nice "foresty" trail walk and next to water which is always fun!
