Kings Mountain National Military Park: Browns Mountain Professional Review and Guide
"If you want to escape the crowds and monuments at the Kings Mountain National Military Park Visitor Center, consider taking this scenic out-and-back hike to the solitary summit of Brown Mountain. As part of the 16-mile Kings Mountain National Scenic Trail, this path travels over several hills and beside a small seasonal creek to reach the slopes of Browns Mountain. Browns Mountain, like Crowders Mountain and Kings Mountain Pinnacle, is an outlying monadnock. It has not been worn down to the level of the surrounding farmland because of its dense quartzite composition. And while its elevation creates a challenging ascent to the summit, it also provides uninterrupted views of the valley that surrounds Kings Mountain National Military Park."
