This has always been a pretty view of the French Broad River. The Greenway follows the river that runs into Asheville, NC. Located on the west side of the Continental Divide, the river runs from east to west through Asheville and almost into Knoxville, TN. The park is a very flat area that runs along the edge of the French Broad River. The area is nearly level with the river and floods easily whenever the river swells from long-term rains. The loop is easy to walk when the river hasn’t flooded the banks. Some of the trail is paved and the rest is subject to being muddy from the overflow. Much depends on when you go. If you venture out when there’s been very little rain, you can enjoy the loop. There’s a dog park, but it’s often muddy, so don't count on having that space for your dog, at least not a clean space.
