Burningtown Valley Loop

Burningtown Valley Loop Professional Review and Guide

"A local favorite, this ride loops through the valley formed by Burningtown Greek and the Little Tennessee River. High mountains loom on either side, but the valley itself is relatively flat- one of the reasons for its popularity. It's also quite beautiful. You'll roll through pastoral scenery past rambling mountain farms and alongside the creek and the river. Look carefully and you might even detect the remains of an old Indian fish trap in the Little Tennessee.

Keep an eye out for underwater, V-shaped rock formations in the shoals. Points of interest: Little Tennessee River; ancient fish traps; old iron bridge across Little Tennessee; side trip to Cowee Valley."
