John’s Island Canoe Camping

John’s Island Canoe Camping Professional Review and Guide

"The camping platforms are along the banks of Pembroke Creek in the town of Edenton and can only be accessed by boat. Three boat launch sites are described in this guide.

This is privacy at its best. The camping platforms at John’s Island offer complete seclusion, hidden amid the tall cypress trees and thick underbrush, yet only minutes from downtown Edenton. The platforms are part of the 5-mile Pembroke Creek Paddle Trail and are on the northern edge of John’s Island, which juts out into Edenton Bay and acts as a natural barrier to protect the town from the elements.

The platforms can be accessed by canoe, kayak, or motorized boats. Campfires are not allowed on any of the camping platforms, and remember to bring a portable toilet as well."
