Eagle Spur Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Take a walk on the Piedmont’s forgotten rail trail. Set in the southernmost reaches of New Hope Creek, the trail follows the old Eagle Spur train line through game lands its entire distance. Traverse wide, wildlife-rich bottoms while slowly curving to the shore of Jordan Lake, where the causeway of the old rail line reaches into the lake and delivers fine views.

The Eagle Spur Trail is a former railroad line turned path that runs south from Stagecoach Road in Durham County and into Chatham County. It roughly parallels the lowermost, still-flowing portion of New Hope Creek before it enters Jordan Lake. From its beginning the path passes through Jordan Lake
Game Lands, keeping the setting wild (check the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission website for seasonal hunting dates in the Jordan Lake Game Lands before starting your trek)."
