Tsali - Right Loop

Tsali - Right Loop Professional Review and Guide

"The Right Loop is an excellent aerobic trail, where you can just cruise. It is also an aerialist’s paradise with lots of dips for small bunny hops and mondo water bars on the downhills for major air. Use caution or land well.

Contour running is fast and furious (or slow and reflective, if that’s your preferred flavor), but use caution, because a 60-foot drop off a sudden off-camber turn is never a good thing. Tread: 9.6 miles of singletrack; 3 miles of old gravel road."

Did the right loop in combination with the left, I would probably rate the left loop slightly more scenic than the right loop, but if I had to choose a loop, i would go for the right loop, although both loops are easy and non technical, I would say that the right loop can be faster. But, just because these loops are easy, caution is needed at all time, these trails can and are very busy. I would suggest that whoever is in charge of the trails, make them a "One Way" system, like so many trails in for example Bend Oregon. These trails are very narrow single tracks, and more than often there is little visibility, and I'm sure there must be some bad "head on's" All in all a sweet trail, but this is a "Warm Up" trail, just to keep you off the streets, if you are looking for some serious riding, then Tsali is definitely not the trail for you. Twisty and fast, but not too technical. It's a good time for everyone.
All the Tsali trails were fun warm-up for a couple of Vermonters looking for some great NC riding, but the challenge was definitely modest (level # 1), the variety limmited and all Tsali trails could be ridden in a day if they let you. As far as the scenery goes I would rate it pretty low. The many view points for the most part looked down on the dreary scene of a reservoir drawn down 50 feet, cluttered with hundreds of junky looking houseboats. If you are coming from out of state for a weeks vacation, looking for a mounain biking destination with technically and aerobically challenging single-track and real "wilderness" mountain experience, Tsali is not the place, despite the boast of being the "Best riding of Southeast USA". For this experience, I would go directly to the Pisgah area northeast of Tsali and just south of Ashville. The guidebook for this area, "Off the Beaten Track, Western NC, Pisgah" by Jim Parham is superb as is the "Pisgah Ranger District, National Geographic, Trails Illustrated Map".
Start on this trail (RIGHT), and continue to the left (at least the locals will tell you that). Lots of fun, I'm so glad I made the trip to visit these trails. Single track, so you won't get lost. Free maps at trail head. I recommend these trails
the four trails that are linked in the same area, including this, the right loop are among the best in the u.s.! Stay at the noc village and spend two or three days riding these fantastic trails. memories and views will stay with you forever!!
