This path makes a loop to reach an observation tower with 360-degree vistas atop one of Hanging Rock State Park’s many geological features—Moore’s Knob. After gently climbing along Cascade Creek, the trail toughens as it reaches the ridgeline of Moore’s Wall and then cruises among boulders and cliff faces to attain Moore’s Knob. The trail then passes Balanced Rock before dropping back to Cascade Creek and the trailhead. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) originally developed this state park, and their handiwork is visible as you pass the rock-and-wood bathhouse, impressive enough to be on the National Register of Historic Places. Moore’s Wall rises beyond the serene park lake. A good eye will spot the squat observation tower that rises slightly above the tree line.
