Pettigrew State Park

Pettigrew State Park Professional Review and Guide

"What a fabulous state park this is. Resting along the banks of Phelps Lake, Pettigrew is on the small side, but it has a lot to offer for its size. There are hiking trails; a picnic area; several massive, state-champion trees; and the historic Somerset Place right next door.

But the highlight by far is Phelps Lake. A fishing pier, canoe rentals, a boat ramp, and a swim area allow you to enjoy this wonderful lake firsthand. Spectacular sunsets greet you each evening, and in winter thousands of great white tundra swans migrate to the area, making the lake their winter haven. This is a birders dream, and the birdlife is certainly not limited to the swans."
