South Mountains State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"South Mountains State Park is in the largest and loftiest of the mountain ranges that lie east of the Blue Ridge. The range sprawls across 100,000 acres in three counties, with 18,000 acres in the park (just 7,500 acres in the Jacob Creek watershed is open to the public).
Luckily, substantial now-unused backcountry seems likely to see trail development. Until then, the existing parcel is amply laced with 47 miles of well-marked trail for hiking,
horseback riding, and mountain biking. The park’s 17-mile mountain-bike loop is a rare state park opportunity."
