Falls of Harper Creek Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This hike has two distinct options. You can make an easy, dry-footed trek to Harper Creek Falls, or tackle a challenging loop to a second waterfall— South Harper Falls—enjoyed from multiple vantage points, including a vista that takes in not only the cataract but also Grandfather Mountain and the crest of the Blue Ridge. First, make a 1.4-mile well-trampled hike to doubledecker, deep-pooled, granite-lined Harper Creek Falls. If you choose to go on, leave the crowds behind, crisscrossing Harper Creek to meet South Harper Creek. More fords lead to South Harper Creek Falls, a 200-foot slide encircled in a stone amphitheater. Ascend past the falls to take in an all-encompassing view of this cataract from an outcrop, enhanced with the Blue Ridge skyline in the yon. Your return trip descends Raider Camp Creek valley."
