U.S. National Whitewater Center: North Main Trail Professional Review and Guide
"This popular route at the U.S. National Whitewater Center leaves from the main trailhead parking and follows the North Main Trail, exploring many of the outdoor-adventure opportunities you can experience while visiting the center. Along this path you’ll pass under a fascinating ropes course, where you’re likely to see adventurous folks working their way through the forest canopy, following the cables and ropes that guide them from platform to platform. From here the trail descends to the boat launch, where rafters and kayakers can access the Catawba River. The trail follows along the Catawba River and explores the surrounding forest before reaching the manmade river, where you can sit and watch whitewater rafters battle the rapids. Speeding over the whitewater river are those brave enough to tackle the high-speed zip line that stretches from the welcome center. You will follow along the man-made whitewater river before returning to the forest and then back to the trailhead where you started. The hike is easy and highly recommended. If you’re the type to get bored with a hike through nothing but a forest, this is the trail for you. It will keep even the most easily bored among us captivated and interested in what comes around the next bend."
