McDowell Nature Preserve Woodland Forest Trail

McDowell Nature Preserve: Woodland Forest Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Although McDowell Nature Preserve has exciting trails directly along Lake Wylie, it also features beautiful backwoods paths that are terrific places to go bird watching or to simply stretch your legs. This trail starts at the McDowell Nature Center and then immediately dives into the woods on the Sierra Trail.

The path travels a narrow corridor through a mixed forest of oak, maple, cedar, and pine. Eventually the route connects with the Creekside Trail and follows the fern- filled banks of Porter Branch, before veering up to meet Cedar Ridge."
