McDowell Nature Preserve Cove Loop

McDowell Nature Preserve: Cove Loop Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This route explores a scenic and undeveloped cove at Lake Wylie. It starts by first taking a warmup loop on the handicapped- accessible Four Seasons Trail, and then follows the nearby creek to its marshy tributary. At this point the Cove Trail leads you past the wetlands area and to the shoreline of Lake Wylie.

This quiet waterside trek often reveals nesting waterfowl or even a freshwater otter. After tracing the shoreline the trail veers inland and follows the undulating Shady Hollow Trail back to the visitor center, where a brief downhill hike leads you back to your car at the Four Seasons trailhead."
