"Mason Farm has long been the most popular birding spot in Chapel Hill. It is close to town, loaded with birds, and the main loop is a flat, easy hike.

This 367-acre sanctuary has large open fields, extensive oak-hickory woods, a creek, beaver marshes, and lots of great brushy areas. Habitats: Fields, mature oak-hickory forest, stream, riparian forest, beaver impoundments. Key birds: Summer: Eastern Kingbird; American Redstart; Hooded, Prothonotary, and Kentucky Warbler; Blue Grosbeak; Indigo Bunting; Summer and Scarlet Tanager."
