Cape Hatteras National Seashore-Cape Point Campground

Cape Hatteras National Seashore-Cape Point Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Cape Hatteras is better known for its lighthouse than its campground. The world-famous Hatteras Lighthouse you see today has stood tall and proud since it was built in 1870.

While the lighthouse is definitely a highlight, the area also has hiking trails, lots of wildlife, plenty of birding opportunities, a picnic area, and of course the beach. Cape Point Campground is probably enjoyed more by RV campers, who can go inside for privacy and cool air, than it is by tent campers, especially since the ground tends to stay damp following rain."
