Holly Shelter Creek

Holly Shelter Creek Professional Review and Guide

"Holly Shelter Creek (also known as Shelter Creek) begins in Onslow County, just over the northeast border of Pender County. It is a small blackwater stream with a large beaver population in the headwaters, and a small tidal influence near its confluence with the Northeast Cape Fear River.

A trip here at low water took 6 hours. A high water level is recommended to help paddle over beaver dams and downed trees. Cattails, aquatic plants, cypress trees, and beaver dams make for interesting viewing."
