High Falls Hike

High Falls Hike Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Grab two waterfalls for the price of one on this fun hike in the Pisgah National Forest. Follow the South Mills River as it descends through the mountains. First, check out the Otter Hole, a scenic swimming spot, on the wide and easy South Mills River Trail.

Next, take a side trip along the way to lesser-visited 22-foot Billy Branch Falls. The hike then joins a narrower track before reaching the 18-foot High Falls, a picturesque cataract, also with a big swimming hole."

"High Falls is not high. Neither is it particularly wide, or powerful, or distinctive, or easy to access. But of all the things High Falls is not, the most important virtue is that it’s not frequently visited."
