FR 5000 and FR 142 Dispersed Camping Professional Review and Guide

"As with most of the dispersed camping within the Pisgah National Forest, the campsites here are great for privacy, and some of them sit right beside Wash Creek. You should be prepared for some traffic though. FR 142 is home to Trace Ridge, one of the most popular mountain bike trailheads in the forest. Anglers, hunters, and hikers frequent the area as well.

Remember the principles of no-trace camping. Set your tent up at least 50 feet from the water’s edge, and dig your cat hole at least four times that distance. These simple acts of reservation help ensure that we’ll all enjoy the land for years to come."
