The Davidson is formed in northern Transylvania County by Shuck Ridge, Daniel Ridge, and Right Fork Creeks. Its headwaters are in the Nantahala National Forest, assuring the paddler of clean, clear water. The upper Davidson must be caught at the crest of high water to ensure a decent run. An outstanding point of interest in the area is Looking Glass Mountain, a large granite dome that presents many challenging routes for the rock climber.
