This small portion of the Uwharrie Recreation Trail provides the feel of true wilderness and will leave you yearning to hike more of the trail.

Excellent Trail but I did it a little different making it a moderately strenuous 12 mile excursion. Started at the NC 27 trailhead and hiked the Uwharrie National Trail to Yates place and the junction of the Dutchman's Creek Trail. I ate my lunch at the campsite here and came back in to the trail head on the Dutchman's creek trail which shares this trailhead with the Uwharrie National and a couple of bike trails. superb trail and great area for a day hike or overnighter as the trail features a primitive campsite about every 2 or 3 miles.
