Unaka Mountain Wilderness

Unaka Mountain Wilderness Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This hike starts at an attractive and historic national forest recreation area, then enters the Unaka Mountain Wilderness. Here, hikers penetrate a deep, lush defile where aptly named Rock Creek cuts a mountain gorge.

Trace a narrow path under rock bluffs interspersed in the wilderness. Criss-cross Rock Creek several times without benefit of a bridge. Your efforts are rewarded on reaching three waterfalls. The uppermost cataract, Rock Creek Falls, crashes 50 feet from on high into a high-walled curved stone amphitheater."
