Mount Pisgah Campground

Mount Pisgah Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is the highest campground on the entire Blue Ridge Parkway at nearly 5,000 feet. And that is just the beginning of the superlatives here.

Try secluded sites just for tent campers in a highcountry forest, complete with stately spruce trees. How about nature trails circling the campground? Throw in some new hot showers added to the comfort stations. Add some fantastic views along the parkway, and you have a great tent-camping destination."

Beautiful setting...but beware the information in the book is no longer accurate. There is no running water available (water buffalo for drinking water) only one set of porta johns for the entire campground and certainly no showers. When I was there (Sept 8-9, 2007) the campground was packed to capacity not only with individual campers but also all of the group campsites with various youth groups. However, it is a great location for exploring the New River Trail (awesome). Much nicer NC state campground at Cliffside near Galax.
