Explorer Professional Review and Guide

"Another fine intermediate ride from Bent Creek’s tamer south side. Explorer is a perfect choice for introducing someone to the exquisite pleasure of zooming downhill (someone you like and want to enjoy the ride, that is. Otherwise, ship ’em off to Mo’ Heinous). It doesn’t require too much effort to gain the top, then you get a gorgeous run back down that could vary from mild to wild, depending on your speed and aeronautics.

A stream crossing at the bottom is the perfect way to end the run before an easy return trip back to the arboretum. This is an excellent ride overall if you just want to spin for an hour and still get a little downhill time in. Tread: 4.9 miles of singletrack; 0.6 mile of gravel road; 3.2 miles of doubletrack."

This loop is really fun to end the day off with. I usually do all the stuff over by side hill and then end with this trail. You can connect with this trail by an unmarked singletrack/overgrown road which breaks right off of the main road(the road that you come out on comming from down from upper sidehill and getting on lower sidehill). This loop, along with pine tree loop are a lot less busy than the rest of the stuff at Bent Creek. Watch out for the big woopty doos on this trail; caught me by surprise and ended up fubaring by derailer.
